Destination Schools
The Banda prides itself on preparing pupils well for entry to secondary schools when they leave at the end of Year 8. A strong relationship exists between The Banda and top independent schools throughout the UK, South Africa, Kenya and other parts of the world.
To help you with the decision, we are always happy to have individual discussions to guide you towards making the right decision for your child and your family. We hold a ‘Future Schools’ information evening during the January term each year. This is open to parents of children in Year 4 to Year 8 and outlines the important considerations for parents:
- Senior schools in Kenya, UK, South Africa or further afield
- Day or Boarding
- ISEB Pre-testing and assessment procedures for secondary schools
- Scholarships and Bursaries
- Exams – GCSE/A Levels/IB
Decisions about scholarships are discussed with parents, and if an application is made we will help prepare the pupil in their area of choice – scholarship assessments normally take place during the course of Year 8. Among the Year 8 cohort leaving The Banda in July 2022, 19 scholarship awards were achieved by pupils to schools within Kenya and the UK. The scholarships or exhibitions achieved included Academic, Sport, Drama, Art, Music and All-Rounder awards.
